RE: Truck Tire Pressure

Shesh. Everyone is an Engineer these days. Well I'm an Engineer...Google up "ideal gas law" and you can make yourself believe that the pressure doesn't change. However, it's not that simple since there's outside factors in it all. Theoretically, if temp doesn't change P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2 turns into P1V1=P2V2. You could say as long as the tire deforms (and they all change shape), the overall volume doesn't change, and the pressure after load does not change. However, by ideal gas laws, if you applied a load and it deformed the tire such that it didn't increasing the volume (read: flat spotted, but didn't expand in diameter or width any)- then the volume would have changed, and the internal pressure would have to change as well. That doesn't happen though. The tire changes shape for sure. Reality is you'll find it's not a linear effect. At some point the tire resists the volume change and then the pressure changes. More importantly though, the tire deforms such that the shape induces more drag and scrubbing. More scrubbing (friction) leads to increase in internal temp. As the temp goes up, so does the pressure and/or the volume of the tire. This is what leads to a tires ultimate failure / seperation / blah blah. Bottom line: tire manufactures recommend applying the load and then monitoring the pressure. It says so on the tire - "MAX PSI at load".

RE: Laredo 5th wheeler

We have the same setup you're thinking about along with a Laredo. You can't ask for a better hitch / truck combination. The only thing I'll add is that you'll want a hitch mirror. The rear seat is so far back that hitching up is tough. You can't see over the rear of the seat for alignment.

RE: Silverback GII

Like most things I'm sure it looks better in person. I just think its a little too different for me. As it turns out the floorplan we're looking at it's not part of those prototypes. So I don't have to worry.

RE: Silverback GII

I did some asking aroun. All of the regular Silverbacks are still available. The G2 is just a new proto, of 2 different floorplans. All of the other floorplans are still there with the old cap, old cabinets, and original features. The G2 is not available with the round cap, only the new cap.

RE: Bunk House....kids really use it?

Agreed, but a Tetonhomes would be a fortune though....

RE: Bunk House....kids really use it?

I guess we're supposed to do that stuff outside. There are floorplans that have a full LR (sofa plus recliners) plus a bunkroom, but they are 40 feet long and heavy. Ken True, but if it's raining, too hot, or too cold (Michigan remember), then you pretty much want inside. Otherwise I'd just get a big ol honkin' tent. As for 40'ers...that's what we've been looking at. The Silverback with opposing slides is not far from that. If there's a unit with a "full LR", I'd like to see it. I haven't found one really.

Bunk House....kids really use it?

I've often heard that once they get a little older they either want to sleep in a tent, or they just crash where they are - ie in front of the living room tv. Ours 3 kids are little still, but I could see it being true in a few years. The center section doesn't really have any room to "entertain" or for mixing. I see us at one end, and them at the other. We've been thinking about bunk houses, but I'm afraid I'm going to miss my rear living floorplan too much. For those of you who have them, do you still use them?

RE: Silverback GII

Wow...thats not good at all. Not what I'd expect from Cedar Creek for sure. The comment about the slider was just that. If you already have a slider for your shortbed, then the front cap is just an angluar eyesore. Good luck with your repairs. I understand CC is great to work with. Hope you have the same experience and have a bunch of happy trails with your new rig.

RE: Silverback GII

Sorry. That's what I meant. A SuperGlide.

RE: Silverback GII

Unless you already have a slider hitch, then it's just redundancy.

RE: Silverback GII

My jacks are welded to the frame. How are you to swap something like that out yourself without a welder?

RE: Silverback GII

It's a diesel...the milage isn't going to get alot better really. It takes alot to change them.

RE: Silverback GII

WOW...lots of mixed reviews. Anyone know if you can still order it in GenI?

RE: Silverback GII

Love the inside, love the docking station too. Still don't like that front end. I wonder if you can option that out or have them put on a Cedar Creek front cap.

RE: Keystone RV

I think we both agree that the original problems were compounded by the dealer. There's no arguement there on my part or with Keystone. General RV in Birch Run is the dealer that made Keystone's flaws much worse. When I couldb't get sstisfaction there I contacted Keystone. Keystone agreed with me on that 100%. They suggested another dealer (Circle K in Lapeer) which did the remaining repairs. They've been great to deal with, but they're hands are tide by what Keystone will agree to fix. Keystone won't stand behind the fender skirts despite they break within 3 months of being put on no matter who does it. They refuse to fix the slide anymore even though the paneling is now buckling off the wall on both ends. Sometimes it lays flatter then other time which leads me to still contend that there is a structural issue with it. However, despite the slides mis-manufature history, repairs, and the structural warranty on the unit, they refuse to help me now. The dealer they've suggested isn't going to eat it. They didn't even make the original sale. The selling dealer screwed thing up worse then the start. Do you really go back toa dealer that Keystone says don't go to? Am I really going to get anywhere now that the folks I was dealing with stopped responding? I think its run its course and they go away knowing they squeeked out of another bad one.

RE: Keystone RV

I'm almost offended by that post. I have all records of my dealings with Keystone including emails to them and from them. They were polite and straight forward. I've dealt with several people at Keystone, some that won't even respond yet we're clearly copied and the Keystone rep said they'd should have repsonded!! I'm not sure how I could have been more understanding about them yanking the slide completely out of my new unit to install missing parts, the dealer breaking the kitchen table in the process and refusing to replace it, the hole in the slide roof they created, the cracked slide molding they created, the fraid ruined carpet they cleaned but wouldn't replace when the slide drug in and out, the basement door that the dealer ground down the perimeter 1/8" to fit correctly and then spray painted to finish (including overspray on the side of the unit), the third set of fender flares that have cracked in half (expansion/contraction they told me)...the list goes on and on. Now I realize a fair share of that was compounded by the dealer. However, another way to look at it is had it been right to start the dealer never would have touched it. This is magically the fault of the owner? I think not. That's why my advise has been get a great dealer over a great deal. In any event the latest emails go unanswered. Not even a "you're warranty is up now - FOAD" letter. They just drug out my slides structural problems till the warranty was up then dropped me like a bad habit despite the very clear track record the unit had. I'm sure my VIN has a large booklet attached at Keystone. I'm not especially picky, so I'd like to see someone that was picky. Wow. All you can do it move on...

RE: Silverback GII

I won't buy it because of that. I just wont....that's too bad cuz they have an awsome floor plan. I hope they don't screw up CC's that way.
